Large Hand-Engraved Brass Tray with Islamic Calligraphy – Egypt / Middle East – Mid 20th Century

A beautiful large hand-worked brass tray decorated with finely engraved geometric and floral motifs and large Arabic calligraphic inscriptions (silver inlay)

The circular tray is entirely hand engraved and embellished with contrasting white tinned decoration forming elegant Arabic calligraphy surrounded by intricate traditional Islamic ornamentation. The centre is decorated with a symmetrical rosette enclosed by engraved concentric borders, while the broad rim features additional engraved decoration.

The reverse is also fully engraved, demonstrating the quality of the hand craftsmanship.

The tray displays a beautiful aged patina acquired over decades of use and is suitable both as a decorative wall piece and as a traditional serving tray.
