Description from the seller
Muonionalusta Meteorite – Pseudocubic Individual with Widmanstätten Pattern – 105 g
Beautiful individual specimen of Muonionalusta iron meteorite, fallen in prehistoric times in the border region between Sweden, Finland, and Norway. This specimen features a striking natural pseudocubic shape, with well-defined edges and faces.
One face retains the natural oxidation crust, while the remaining faces have been cut and polished, revealing a beautiful Widmanstätten structure: the characteristic intergrowth of kamacite and taenite that forms only after millions of years of very slow cooling in the core of a planetesimal, long before the Earth itself formed.
Details:
Weight: 105 g
Dimensions: 29.3 x 30.6 x 34 mm
Classification: Fine octahedrite (Fe,Ni) – IVA group
Source: Muonionalusta, Sweden/scandinavian region
No chemical or thermal treatment – natural structure
Shape: pseudocubic, with one face featuring natural crust
An ideal collector's piece, suitable for both those starting a meteorite collection and more advanced collectors, thanks to the quality and definition of the Widmanstätten pattern.
