Description from the seller

Oil painting by Jean Claude Quilici. "Les Roches Blanches aux Baux".

Jean-Claude Quilici was born in Marseille in 1941. He studied at the School of Fine Arts, where he discovered the masters of Provençal painting.
His painting is rooted here in the aesthetic lineage of Provençal artists. However, Jean-Claude Quilici does not depict only Provence, but all the landscapes he admires and that inspire him, as he travels: United States, Spain, Morocco…
Jean-Claude Quilici exhibited for the first time in 1958. This was followed by a national reputation of considerable scope. The artist received numerous prizes, such as the “special mention” from the Jury at the Grand Prize for Painting at the Avignon Festival. The recognition he enjoys then crosses borders: he exhibits many times in the United States and then in Japan. During his career, he also completed public commissions, for the University of Corte and the Marseille metro in particular. In 1997, the artist created the sets for Gounod’s opera “Mireille” for a co-production of the Opéra de Marseille and the Opéra de Bordeaux.
