DESCRIPTION
Riviera at Dolo
Oil on panel
Work dimensions: 50 x 60 cm
Dimensions with frame: 70 x 80 cm

In “Riviera at Dolo,” Alberto Candian approaches one of the subjects closest to his painterly sensibility: the Venetian landscape along the Brenta Riviera. The painting depicts the historic architectures facing the riverbank, evoking the atmosphere of ancient villas and buildings tied to the Venetian society of the eighteenth century.
The composition is built with balance, through a synthesis painting that does not dwell on detail, but focuses above all on the rendering of light and atmosphere. The houses and the architectures along the Brenta are defined by a quick yet controlled brushstroke, while the water becomes the central focal point of the scene, gathering and reflecting the shapes and colors of the landscape.
The palette is light, played in pastel tones and delicate transitions, in keeping with a twentieth-century Venetian tradition attentive to diffused luminosity and the relationships between sky, water, and architecture. Reflections on the river, rendered with soft and synthetic touches, give the work a serene and airy character.
