【Description】
An exceptional and beautifully preserved original Japanese woodblock print titled "Spring" by the acclaimed contemporary printmaker Gashu Fukami (1953–2023).
Fukami studied traditional woodblock printing in the historic art city of Kyoto before moving to the United States to further refine his artistic vision at a prestigious art institute in Boston. This international background allowed him to masterfully combine classic Japanese woodcut precision with a modern, colorful, and highly expressive pop-art/contemporary sensibility.
This particular work is an absolute standout, capturing a whimsical portrait filled with vibrant tones and bold lines that instantly catch the eye. It perfectly represents the unique charm of modern Japanese graphic art.
Crucially for collectors, this is a highly desirable limited edition of only 100 prints worldwide, featuring the artist's original pencil signature and hand-written edition number in the lower margin. It offers a fantastic acquisition opportunity for any serious collector of Japanese contemporary prints (Sosaku-hanga) and modern illustrations.
