Description from the seller

Edwardian Wedding Fan Rare in Horn with Blond Horn and Embroidered Tulle with Original Case – Circa 1900-1914

Refined vintage folding fan from the Edwardian / Belle Époque era (dated between 1900 and 1914), probably conceived as a wedding or evening fan for high society of the early 20th century.
The lot is exceptionally complete with its original contemporaneous protective case. Made in very light cream-colored cotton tulle, decorated with a delicate motif of hand-embroidered floral tendrils. The decoration is enriched by gold-toned metal sequins (spangles) from the period, individually sewn to catch the light. The fabric is intact, with no tears or humidity stains.
The frame consists of ribs and outer guards in fine natural blond horn, worked hot. It displays the typical translucence and organic grain of the material, completely free of plastic-mold joint lines. Extremely lightweight.
The ribs are attached to the base by an original brass screw pin pressed manually in cold. The suspension ring features an extremely fine geometric guilloché (guilloché) pattern of the era.
The Original Case: Rigid, period-shaped case covered inside with cream-white satin lining. The outside is finished in a burgundy/brown printed paper. The box is equipped with a front mechanical closure with a brass snap button, perfectly functioning as original. An extraordinary collectible set for its integrity and antique conservation state.
