Description from the seller
THE BLUE WINDOW
95 x 70 cm
Acrylic on canvas · 2026
The Blue Window presents an intimate architectural scene built around a blue-shuttered window, placed on a white wall and surrounded by vegetation and pink flowers. In the foreground, a large orange vessel contains the trunk of a tree that runs vertically through the composition, while a yellow table and several decorative elements complete the space.
The work stands out for the contrast between the geometry of the architecture and the organic shapes of the vegetation. The intense blues of the window dialogue with greens, pinks, oranges, and yellows, creating a bright scene of strong chromatic presence. More than describing a specific place, the painting proposes a refuge and contemplative space, where color transforms a mundane corner into an imagined and serene image.
PROJECTION AND VALUE OF THE WORK
The Blue Window is part of a body of work in which Mar Legón explores interiors, courtyards, and Mediterranean architectures through expressive use of color and formal simplification. The piece stands out for its compositional clarity and for the way it integrates nature, architecture, and everyday objects into a scene with a strong visual identity.
This is a unique piece, entirely handmade in 2026, that brings together some central traits of the artist's recent production: non-naturalistic use of color, space organized by large planes, and the construction of images that oscillate between memory, intimacy, and imagination.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mar Legón develops a painting practice centered on reinterpretations of landscapes, interiors, still lifes, and figurative scenes through a visual language based on color, formal synthesis, and the creation of atmospheres.
Her work transforms spaces and recognizable motifs into images of strong visual intensity, where reality is simplified and reorganized to give rise to scenes that oscillate between memory, imagination, and contemplation.
