Description from the seller

A particularly elegant and authentic antique perfume bottle, made from the characteristic so-called 'boerenzilver' (mercury glass). This type of glassware was produced around the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century by applying a reflective metal layer to the inside of the glass, which at that time produced a luxurious, mirror-like sheen. This specific piece has a beautiful, organically shaped 'shaft and globe' model (slender neck with a bulbous base). Very exceptional is that the original, extra-long glass applicator (the fragrance wick) is still completely intact and present after all these years. In most of these bottles, the fragile stopper has been lost or broken over time. The interior shows a fascinating, heavily weathered oxidation of the silver layer. This gives the object a wonderful, mysterious and well-worn character (patina) that is highly valued by lovers of antique glassware.
