Fine and rare edition, printed in Rome, published by S. Laurentius & Th. Pagliarini in the year 1728.

Second Roman edition, for the first time with the portrait of Cardinal Albano.

The anatomical plates of Bartolommeo Eustachi were completed in 1552, but were forgotten and unpublished in the Vaticana until Pope Clement XI entrusted them to his personal physician Lancisi for publication, who first published them in 1714. The plates show, among other things, the thorax, the nervous system, various organs and vascular structures.

Bound in an interim paper cover binding of the period. With engraved title vignette, engraved dedicatory portrait, and 47 copper plates.

COLLATION: 28 roman-numbered, 79 pages, 5 unnumbered leaves.

CONDITION: Good copy with signs of use, good binding. Slight foxing, binding rubbed and lightly stained. Overall a handsome, clean, untrimmed copy. PROVENIENCE: With engraved ex libris by Friedrich August von Braunschweig-(Wolfenbüttel)-Oels (1740-1804).
