Description from the seller
Château Pétrus – 2015 – Pomerol – 1 bottle (0.75 L) – 100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate & 100 points James Suckling
Storage and provenance:
This bottle has been stored since purchase in professional, temperature-controlled conditions at around 12–13°C, kept horizontally for stable long-term ageing. The capsule is intact and pristine, the level is into-neck (as expected for the vintage), and the labels are clean and bright.
Wine critic ratings:
Pétrus 2015 is one of the most acclaimed wines of a legendary Right Bank vintage, earning perfect scores from the world's leading critics.
- Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (Lisa Perrotti-Brown): 100/100 — a wine to build and unfold over two decades and cellar with confidence for 40+ years, praised for its layered red, black and blue fruits, very fine-grained tannins and seamless, mineral finish.
- James Suckling: 100/100 — described in the most personal terms as a wine that stirs the soul, with extraordinary purity and density held in perfect balance, and ranked among the greatest Pétrus ever made.
The 2015 is consistently listed among the estate's benchmark modern vintages, alongside 2009, 2010, 2016 and 2019.
Producer and cuvée:
Château Pétrus, in the heart of Pomerol on the appellation's famous blue-clay knoll, is one of the most sought-after and collectible wines in the world. Produced in tiny quantities from a vineyard of around 11.3 hectares, it is a near-pure Merlot of legendary depth and velvety power. Despite never being part of the 1855 classification and holding no official cru status, Pétrus is universally regarded as belonging to the very summit of Bordeaux, mentioned in the same breath as the First Growths and commanding prices among the highest of any wine globally.
Vintage and style:
The 2015 was an exceptional year for Pomerol, whose draining blue-clay soils excelled in the warm, dry conditions. Under winemaker Olivier Berrouet, Pétrus 2015 shows crushed black cherry, plum, mulberry and cedar with floral and mineral nuances — medium to full-bodied, exuberant and layered, with very ripe, firm, fine-grained tannins and a long, mineral finish. It is built for decades of cellaring.
Condition and packaging (this bottle):
The lot comprises one 75 cl bottle (14.5% vol.) in outstanding visual condition: deep, intact red capsule with the Pétrus Pomerol wax-style seal, embossed "PETRUS" shoulder, bright and clean front and back labels, and an into-neck fill. The bottle carries the estate's modern security features. Both front and back labels are present and legible as shown.
Drinking window and collectability:
With perfect scores from both Parker and Suckling, a drinking window running toward 2055, an unforgettable drinking experience. As always with Pétrus, provenance and authenticity are everything — this bottle is presented honestly and in full photographic detail.
Shipping and handling:
As I care deeply about the storage and wellbeing of my wines, shipping will be handled with particular attention. I am happy to agree with the buyer, after the auction closes, on the optimal shipping date and method, taking into account weather conditions and transit times. The bottle will be securely packed in a sturdy carton with ample protective material to prevent movement and impact, and can be sent fully insured with signature on delivery. During warmer periods I can arrange insulated packaging and cooling elements, and we can opt for an express service to minimise time in transit.
Happy Bidding!
