The green is almost monochrome, a single shade that darkens slightly at the edges, uniform and absorbing like a meadow seen in backlight. The white-cream flowers unfold in wide, soft petals, with a few pale yellow touches warming the edges. The true distinctive note are the small black specks scattered among the flowers and in the surrounding field — not petals, but almost graphic marks, like fallen seeds or ink blots, that break the sweetness otherwise total of the composition. The stems, dark green, are numerous and slender, rooted in a compact bunch that widens as it goes upward.
