About the artist:

Freddish Papritz, professionally known as Freddish, is a French visual artist born in 1971 in Paris.

A self-taught artist, he emerged from early Parisian urban culture and, by the late 1980s, became one of the formative figures of French street art. Active within the first circles of graffiti in the 1980s and 1990s, notably as a member of the IZB crew, Freddish helped lay the foundations of the street art movement in France.

Alongside his urban practice, he worked as an assistant to renowned contemporary artists such as Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely, experiences that deeply influenced his artistic vision and embedded his work in the heritage of the Nouveau Realisme.

From these influences, Freddish developed a singular multidisciplinary artistic language blending painting, sculpture, assemblage, and urban techniques. He became known for his sculptural interventions and metal assemblages, often designed for public space. Alongside other artists, he co-founded La Galerie de la Rue, a collective platform dedicated to exhibiting urban art in both institutional and non-institutional contexts, in France and internationally, notably through projects in West Africa.

Freddish also collaborates closely with hip-hop scenes and contemporary dance, creating sets, installations, and visual environments for performances staged in major Paris venues such as L’Olympia, La Cigale, and the Grande Halle de la Villette.

A significant milestone in his career occurred in 2006 when he participated in the Salon d'Automne in Paris, marking one of the first institutional recognitions of street art in France.

His work explores urban, social, and fantastical themes, mixing acrylic painting, collage, and metal sculpture. Rooted in popular culture and hip-hop aesthetics, his practice has gradually evolved toward more narrative and personal compositions, while maintaining a strong link to the city and its symbols.

Freddish's work is regularly shown on the contemporary art market, with pieces appearing at public sales since the 2010s, including notable works offered for sale in 2025. His creations are today part of private collections in France and abroad.

Between 2020 and 2026, Freddish continues developing site-specific projects, immersive installations, and murals, notably in architectural and hotel spaces such as the Ki Space Hotel & Spa, where his paintings and sculptures interact directly with their surroundings.

Considered a historical figure of French street art alongside artists such as Speedy Graphito, Miss.Tic, Jef Aérosol, and Blek le Rat, Freddish remains an active and influential artist, bridging the origins of urban art with contemporary practices.
