Pyromorphite specimen, a superb old Pyromorphite cluster from Bad Ems, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany; weight 207 g, dimensions 6.5 × 4.5 × 4.5 cm.
Description from the seller
A very interesting and highly collectible PYROMORPHITE specimen from the classic Bad Ems mining district, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany — one of the most famous historic European localities for this mineral.
The specimen shows numerous brown to caramel-colored PYROMORPHITE crystals forming dense, sculptural aggregates across the matrix. The crystals have a distinctive lustrous surface, with many small prismatic to barrel-like forms typical of classic Bad Ems material. Under direct light, the specimen reveals attractive bronze-brown reflections and a rich, old-collection appearance.
This is not the common bright green style of pyromorphite seen from many world localities. Instead, it represents the more historic European aesthetic: earthy brown, honey-brown and greyish tones, with compact crystal growth and a very characteristic Bad Ems look. The piece has a natural, rugged form with several display angles and good three-dimensional presence.
Bad Ems is a legendary old German lead-mining district and is especially appreciated by collectors for its classic PYROMORPHITE specimens. Material from this locality is no longer abundant on the market, and good aesthetic examples are increasingly difficult to obtain, especially pieces with strong crystallization and a clear historic locality identity.
A desirable specimen for collectors of classic European minerals, German localities, and historic PYROMORPHITE occurrences.
