Description from the seller

Title: The Summer

School: European Fauvist School (20th Century)

Style: Fauvism

Technique: Oil on canvas / mixed media.

Circle and artistic influence: Artwork attributable to the circle of European Fauvist painting from the mid-20th century, with influences from Post-Impressionism and decorative Symbolism. The composition combines a softly modeled female figure with a free handling of color and a background built with geometric planes, evoking the visual language developed by artists close to Henri Matisse and other representatives of the European avant-gardes, where chromatic intensity and formal simplification prevail over naturalistic representation.

The work represents an elegant half-length female nude in a contemplative pose, with the head inclined toward an exuberant bouquet of flowers consisting of white calla lilies and large yellow flowers. The figure, with delicate features and skin modeled through soft chromatic transitions, appears adorned with an elaborate headdress of oriental inspiration that gives a pronounced decorative character.

The background is constructed through broad planes of color and geometric shapes that alternate intense blues, bright greens, ochres and pinks, generating a dynamic composition that contrasts with the serenity of the protagonist. The brushwork is free and expressive, applying oil in layers of different thicknesses that enrich the painterly surface and enhance the tactile effect typical of the mixed media technique.

The use of a vibrant palette, the simplification of forms and the expressive prominence of color place the work within the Fauvist language, where the decorative atmosphere and chromatic harmony acquire greater relevance than the objective representation of reality.

The work is presented in a narrow-profile wooden frame, finished in dark tones with a light patina and a discreet inner gilded moulding that adds elegance without diminishing the intense chromatic richness of the composition.

Measurements:

With frame: 86.3 × 86.3 cm.
Without frame: 80.3 × 80.3 cm.

Observations:

The work may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging. In such a case, we will need photographs of the damages to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority.
