Description from the seller
Adrianus Johannes Zwart painted many landscapes and still lifes. Adriaan Zwart was very versatile. Although his early work had a somewhat dark tone, his later work was light and mostly cheerful in tone. He was a productive painter. He lived in a caravan. Later Zwart lived on a houseboat De Trekschuit, with which he constantly took a different mooring to paint in that area. Zwart traveled a lot to, among others, Spain and France to paint there as well. In the war years the painter lived with his family near Meppel. Later he lived in Alkmaar, Voorburg and Woerden. In 1974 he moved with his wife to the Rosa Spier Huis (Laren). He died there in 1981.
Inner size of the passe-partout: 44 x 35 cm. Including a high-quality frame and passe-partout: 67.5 x 59.2 cm.
