This vintage hand-painted birdcage dates from the period 1920–1950. This type of cage, with a wooden base, a wire door with a spring mechanism, and hand-painted folk-art motifs (floral folk art), was made in Europe in the first half of the 20th century. They were at the time used for songbirds such as canaries, as well as purely decorative in the living room.
