Description from the seller
This work tells the story of Psyche’s quest in Greek mythology, who seeks Love, fled from enchantment.
From colors that are predominantly warm and with great mastery in the brushstrokes, it represents the suspended and almost desperate female figure. She lightly touches her lips to relive the desire and the warmth of another soul.
The main focus is always the gazes and the naturalness of a body, not perfect by conventional aesthetic canons, not exposed to pleasure, but bearing witness, itself, to the entire message, which communicates security and dignity, going beyond mere observation.
With the work will also be shipped the certificate of authenticity of the original piece.
Jara Marzulli’s works are part of private collections in many parts of the world, public and museum collections such as in Athens, in Catania at the MacS, in the Gaeta Pinacoteca and at the Vittoriale degli Italiani in Gardone Riviera and in Cadiz, Spain. She also collaborates with "The Guide artists", a physical and online store of the finest figurative art worldwide.
Numerous publications appear in important catalogs, books and magazines, both printed and online, with international reach. The latest book, "La statura della palma" published by Selvatiche Edizioni, with 15 images of her works, in collaboration with poet Francesca del Moro, is available on various stores, platforms or at ordini@selvaticheedizioni.com
Jara Marzulli
born in Bari, she graduated from Bari Art High School and later from the Academy of Fine Arts of Bari with top honors, and since 1998 she has participated in exhibitions and competitions, quickly earning recognitions, prizes and important selections.
Her figurative realist painting style soon became recognizable and, from 2004, she began international experiences among fairs, biennials and important exhibitions.
Her art grows and tells of a feeling that is at once ecstatic and carnal, made even more incisive and moving by the technical perfection that distinguishes the artist. A lucid and piercing expressive quality, an indefinable purity that wears itself in painting, a constant play of displacements, of role reversals between the artist who paints and the subject depicted.
Numerous are the prestigious Biennales and art exhibitions for which she exhibits in Italy and abroad, such as Turkey, the Art Taipei fair, Taiwan, China at Red Elation Gallery, Hong Kong, the MEAM Museum, Barcelona, Dublin, the Maguncia Museum, Buenos Aires in Argentina and London.
Jara Marzulli’s figures have intense, direct, frontal gazes. They have the dignity of subjects ready to respond with great immediacy. The characters, who almost fill the canvas space, visually convey men, women, girls and boys who seem to recognize the observer as a stranger, sustain their gaze, repulse him, distance him from themselves to defend the silence of their precious inner world.
