Monika Herschberger, born 1976 in Vienna, studied painting at the Vienna Art School with Gerhard Hermanky and jazz singing at the Vienna Conservatory. This dual rooting in image and sound shapes her artistic handwriting to this day: her works arise from musical impulse – physical, immediate, without detours.
The painting moves between a light gesture and an intensive densification of color and form. Sometimes freely open, sometimes densely layered – always with the energy of the moment in which a painting comes into being.
Since 2001, Herschberger has shown her works in Austria and internationally.
