Le Yack - The Awakening - Hand signed

Frontal and bold low-angle: lying on a white and blue towel, a naked woman with scarlet lips holds up a beach novel whose cover covers her eyes entirely. Behind her, the yellow band of sand, the frothy edge, the ultramarine sea, the pale sky. Semiotically, the painting is an irony machine: the body offered to the sun is exposed defenseless, while the only “look” of the painting is the devouring one imprinted on the paper. The cover acts as a mask, a shield, and a threat at once — the danger is no longer in the water, it is in the hands of the bather. A straightforward solar palette, bodies modeled in thick strokes, the red of the lips as the only skin accent.

Le Yack, a French emerging pop and street art artist. Alexandre Pelletier, called Le Yack, was born in 1972 in Tours. During his studies, he joined the École Supérieure d'Art et de Design (ESAD) of Orléans. He is a creative director in publishing and on the web. Instagram @leyack45. He is exhibited in a network of about forty galleries in France, Germany, Belgium, the United States.
