Paesaggio con castello e figure is a 19th‑century oil painting from Europe, attributed to the Flemish School, measuring 70 by 50 cm.
Description from the seller
Oil on canvas depicting a Flemish-flavored landscape with fortified architecture, animated figures and a river scene. The composition recalls the North European landscape tradition between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
The work presents a rich scene with characters engaged in daily activities, a castle with a cylindrical tower and a wide landscape crossed by a watercourse. The warm palette and atmospheric rendering confer depth and a strong decorative impact.
The pictorial surface shows a natural craquelure compatible with the age of the painting. The canvas is mounted on a wooden frame and appears to have been re-tensioned/restored at a later date. No visible signature was found.
Conditions
Good overall condition in relation to age, with diffuse craquelure, slight signs of time and small conservation restorations. It is advised to view the photographs carefully, which constitute an integral part of the description.
