Description from the seller
Lodewijk Busing (Maastricht) 1965 -
As a contemporary artist I have lived and worked for quite some time in the beautiful inspiring Bollenstreek.
My passion lies in fine painting with oil on panel, where I strive for an extremely realistic representation with great attention to mood and detail, light and shadow.
Within my oeuvre I use different pseudonyms for various themes. Under the name CH van Dijk I am mainly known for my detailed bird portraits (landscapes), while I sign other atmospheric work often with my pseudonym HS - Hultman.
In this painting I sought a balance between intimate liveliness and broad winter stillness. Also to capture the vulnerability but also the strength of nature. The sparrow radiates life and warmth with its warm brown tones and tousled feathers, right in the middle of an icy, dreary surroundings.
A typical Dutch winter feeling, with the wooden arched bridge, the reeds and the diffuse, grey sky; I have tried to evoke a nostalgic, melancholic atmosphere of a classic Dutch winter day.
The work is reframed by me in a light gray cream-colored frame with a silver-gilt edge and a brass nameplate bearing my own name Lodewijk Busing 1965
