Willem "Wim" Hooymans (1937-2010) was a self-taught Dutch painter and sculptor from Alkmaar. After a serious accident at the age of 29, he permanently swapped his bicycle shop for art. His work evolved from large steel sculptures to colorful, figurative oil paintings of landscapes and village scenes.

Vroege Kunst: Around 1969 he began creating enormous steel landscapes, etchings, ceramics, and clay works.
Schilderkunst: He picked up the brush again around 1980 and thereafter mainly worked with oil paint.
Inspiratiebron: His compositions are based on sketches he made during his many rides on the racing bicycle.
Ontwikkeling: Over the years his style shifted from strictly figurative to a more loose, impressionistic painting style.
