Wood hand-carved duck vide-poche dating to 1970–1980, measuring about 25 cm long, 15 cm wide and 12 cm high.
Description from the seller
A large and highly decorative hand-carved wooden tray in the form of a duck, measuring approximately 25 cm in length.
This sculptural piece stands out for its impressive size, refined craftsmanship and functional design. The body of the duck forms a generous basin, making it ideal as a vide-poche for keys, glasses or everyday objects, while simultaneously serving as a striking decorative element. Its generous size and sculptural presence make it a true statement piece in any interior.
The carving is fluid and well-balanced, with elegant proportions and a beautifully curved neck. The surface is richly hand-painted with layered feather detailing in warm brown and golden tones, contrasted by a deep green neck and the characteristic light cheek..
The underside retains its original lacquered finish, consistent with export craftsmanship from the 70ies / 80ies intended for the European and American decorative market.
Objects of this kind were inspired by traditional wildlife art and rustic lodge interiors, and today remain highly appreciated for their decorative versatility and warm, natural presence.
Condition: Very good vintage condition.
Minor signs of age and use, including light surface wear.
Attractive original patina.
Dimensions: approximately 25 cm (length) × 15 cm (width) × 12 cm (height)
A large and eye-catching decorative object, combining craftsmanship, character and everyday functionality.
