Very rare Geneva edition of the complete works of Publius Cornelius Tacitus, regarded as the greatest exponent of the historiographic genre in Latin literature.

C. Cornelii Taciti Opera quæ exstant. I. Lipsius recently reviewed. Added Commentaries enlarged and corrected by the latest hand, [Geneva], at Petrum & Iacobum Chouët, 1619.

PP.: (XVI), 720, (XVI); 580, (XXVIII). COMPLETE.

Genuine copy with leaves in overall good condition, with the usual signs of use and time. Some stains and damp spots. Stamp of an ancient noble private library, now extinct, on the title page and last leaf.

Contemporary binding in full parchment with the title handwritten on the spine, well preserved. Missing the front white endpaper.
