Model History:

Reference 2400 is a refined example of IWC’s understated dress watches from the early 1970s. Rather than belonging to one of the manufacturer’s modern named collections, it represents the classically styled, reference-based watches that formed an important part of IWC’s catalogue during this period. Its minimalist round case, slim profile and elegant Arabic numerals reflect the restrained Swiss design language of the era.

The watch is powered by IWC’s in-house calibre 403, a compact hand-wound movement produced during the first half of the 1970s. It features central seconds, a Breguet overcoil hairspring and a relatively high operating frequency of 25,800 vibrations per hour.

A particularly attractive feature is the original signed IWC stainless steel mesh bracelet. Its fine woven construction follows the case closely and gives the watch a distinctive, integrated appearance while preserving the elegant proportions of the design.

Condition:

The watch is in attractive vintage condition. Its dial has developed a warm, lightly aged appearance and features distinctive stylised Arabic numerals, a printed minute track and the traditional “International Watch Co. Schaffhausen” signature.

The dial is well-preserved but displays visible age-related imperfections. These include a fine circular mark around the centre, some discolouration and spotting between approximately 4 and 5 o’clock. Further minor marks are present around the dial and minute track.

The stainless steel case presents well, with light scratches and signs of previous use consistent with age. The caseback also shows light surface wear. A new, clear plexiglass crystal has been fitted. The watch retains its signed crown and is paired with its original signed IWC stainless steel mesh bracelet, which accommodates wrists of up to approximately 21 cm.

The in-house IWC calibre 403 manual-winding movement has been fully serviced and is functioning correctly. The watch is sold with a 3-month functionality guarantee.
