Description from the seller

Beautiful set of the 9 volumes of the famous "Journal for All: Illustrated Weekly Magazine", published in Paris by Ch. Lahure

This flagship 19th-century publication offers a fascinating immersion into the literature and cultural news of the era, enriched by a wealth of illustrations.

Notable content: Includes the early volumes of the publication launched in April 1855. It features beautiful engravings, notably signed by Gustave Doré, as well as major novels of the period serialized, such as The She-wolves of Machecoul by Alexandre Dumas.

Number of volumes: 9 bound volumes.

Condition and conservation details:

Bindings: Period bindings of varied styles, showing evident signs of wear (scuffs, worn headcaps and corners, light rubbing on some spines), in keeping with the age of the volumes.
Interior: Period paper with scattered foxing and browning that do not affect readability nor the beauty of the engravings.

Notably: Volume six has the peculiarity of having its very last page pasted in.
