Description from the seller
In La Custode dell’Aurora, Bivaga presents a figure suspended between reverie and awakening. Framed by a crown of sapphire blue and ivory roses, intertwined with luminous pearls, she emerges from darkness with a gaze that is both vulnerable and unwavering. Her expression resists easy interpretation, inviting the viewer into a moment that exists beyond narrative and before certainty.
The floral crown carries a symbolic duality. The blue roses evoke the unattainable, the imagined, and the pursuit of what lies just beyond reach, while the ivory blossoms suggest purity of intention rather than innocence. Together they become an emblem of hope preserved through contemplation. The pearls echo this quiet symbolism, recalling wisdom patiently gathered over time.
Bivaga places particular emphasis on the language of the hands. One rests gently against the face while the other reaches upward, creating a subtle circular movement that frames the portrait and reinforces its introspective rhythm. Every gesture is restrained, every detail measured, allowing the emotional weight of the painting to emerge through silence rather than action.
Light moves delicately across skin, fabric, and petals, revealing textures with remarkable sensitivity while allowing the surrounding darkness to remain present. The result is a portrait that reflects not a fleeting emotion, but a lasting state of inner attentiveness, where beauty becomes an act of quiet endurance.

About the artist:
Agatino Bivona, known artistically as Bivaga, was born in Biancavilla, Sicily, in 1972 and currently lives and works in Adrano. A pupil and close confidant of master Antonio Sciacca, Bivaga began his artistic journey at a young age and has spent over three decades refining his unmistakable visual language. His hyperrealistic portraits, rich in symbolism and emotional nuance, have been featured in major exhibitions in Italy and abroad. Celebrated in critical publications such as I Grandi Maestri (2009), and reviewed by prominent art critics like Nicola Villari and Alfredo Pasolino, Bivaga’s works are held in private collections across Europe, the United States, and Japan — carrying fragments of Sicilian elegance far beyond its borders.
