Description from the seller
Oil on canvas
Measurements: 56 x 48 cm
Description
This work transcends the traditional equestrian portrait to enter a more intimate territory: the bond. Two horses, united not only by physical proximity but by a silent connection, occupy the space with a serene and powerful presence. The composition brings the heads close enough to almost fuse them, creating an emotional tension where the essential is not movement, but the relationship.
The gaze of the adult animal conveys experience and restraint, while the younger one radiates curiosity and openness. Between them, a silent dialogue is established, an invisible transfer of character, instinct, and learning. It is not just a scene: it is a narrative about origin, inheritance, and continuity.
The use of a dark background eliminates any distraction and makes light the protagonist, shaping the forms with delicacy and highlighting the texture of the coat and the warm tones of the skin. This selective lighting adds depth and an almost sculptural air, elevating the work toward a classical language reinterpreted with contemporary sensitivity.
A piece that resonates with those who value not only the beauty of the horse but also its symbolism: strength, nobility, and the transmission of life. Ideal for collections seeking works with emotional charge, elegance, and a subtle yet compelling narrative.
Alejandro Carballosa, Cuban visual artist and designer based in Spain, with a career marked by exploring strength, emotion, and beauty in the animal and human form.
