Rare fourth edition (the original is from 1762), revised and enlarged this celebrated work by Antoine Baumé (1728-1804), one of the most refined pharmacists and chemists of the 18th century, inventor of several chemical processes and instruments, among them the aerometer. It also contains culinary recipes: syrups, brandy, cocoa butter, chocolates, candies, jams and vinegars.

Contemporary full leather binding with title and gilding on the spine, with some wear and loss at the corners but well preserved overall. Endpapers in marbled paper. Red edges.
There is the ex-libris label of M. Basset, royal notary of Leran and Labastide de Congoust, dated 1781.
