Antoine Monnoyer (1670-1747), Attributed to - Bloemstuk

Antoine Monnoyer, also known as Baptiste Monnoyer le jeune, was a French painter, born in 1670, and the son of the famous flower painter Jean-Baptiste Monnoyer. He grew up in an artistic environment and learned the craft of painting from his father, who was known for his rich and refined floral still lifes. Antoine continued this tradition and likewise specialized in bouquets and decorative painting. His work is characterized by carefully composed bouquets, vivid colors, and a naturalistic rendering of flowers and plants, all in the elegant style of the French Baroque.

As his father did, Antoine worked for prominent patrons and contributed to the decoration of noble and royal interiors. Although he became less well known than Jean-Baptiste Monnoyer, he is regarded as a capable representative of French floral painting at the end of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century. Antoine Monnoyer died in 1747. His paintings can today be found in various museums and private collections, where they are valued for their refined technique and decorative beauty.
