Small octavo bound in brown half-leather, rounded spine adorned with fillets, and large gilt irons.

Spine worn, minor scuffing, fragment of the head cap torn away, corners repaired; scattered foxing.
Original edition of this history of Satan given by the abbot Auguste-François Lecanu (1803-1884), which concentrates on depicting the fall of the fallen angel, his role in Christian theology, as well as the impact of his cult in different cultures.
This book was withdrawn from trade and partly destroyed; the documents are precise and exact, notes Caillet, 6332.
A fine copy preserved in an ornate period binding.
