Rare and elegant vintage natural bamboo walking cane pair
At auction is an exceptional collectible: a pair of vintage walking canes, handcrafted from high-quality natural bamboo. This set stands out for its rarity, refined details, and a superb aesthetic harmony that has evolved with time.
● Overall condition:
Both canes are in good overall condition. They show light signs of use, quite normal, and minor wear consistent with their age, which gives them a beautiful original patina and authentic historic charm.
● Dimensions:
First cane (with handle): Total length 84.5 cm, Derby handle width 10.5 cm, shaft diameter about 2.2 to 2.3 cm.
Second cane (with cord hole): Total length 88 cm, middle diameter about 2 cm.
● Details of the first cane (With handle and gilded stamped band):
Derby handle: Equipped with an ergonomic Derby-style wooden handle with superb hand-finished shaded textures.
Golden stamped band / ferrule: Just below the handle sits an elegant golden-colored band (it may be gold-plated metal or gilded silver). This band is the only piece of the set bearing precious antique hallmarks engraved in relief (intaglio), representing the initials or ancient symbols of the maker.
Rubber tip at the bottom: The cane ends with a black rubber protective tip. Note the small natural slit or crack about 1.5 cm on this rubber. This wear over time is a real authenticity guarantee, proving the cane’s age and its authentically vintage and antique character (see detailed photos).
● Details of the second cane (With brass collar and cord hole):
Note: This cane bears no punch marks or markings.
Cord hole: It has an original hole intended to receive a lanyard or cord (one of the protective eyelets is missing on one side, which is natural wear related to age).
Brass collar and tip: The base is reinforced by a remarkable traditional system consisting of a brass cylindrical collar (golden metal) topped with a hard metal tip. The ensemble shows a superb natural oxidation patina and is fixed to the bamboo by an original rivet.
Color: It features a beautiful amber honey hue with a deep historic patina.
