W. Gejderich — Look, an original oil painting on canvas (30 × 24 cm, 0.4 kg) depicting a portrait in Realism, signed and created in 2019 in Poland, sold directly by the artist, with a certificate of authenticity and protective varnish.
Description from the seller
For a time, I worked on the production of the film "Loving Vincent." During this period, I became interested in BreakThru Films' earlier projects, particularly puppet films, in which hand-crafted figures created an extraordinary, slightly surreal world. It was this aesthetic that inspired a series of painterly experiments with portraiture.
I didn't want to paint a portrait of a specific person. I wanted to create a figure who seems familiar, yet remains mysterious. Soft lighting, a subdued color palette, and subtle facial modeling create an atmosphere of silence and concentration. The gaze remains open to interpretation, allowing each viewer to find their own story within it.
The painting's inspiration from the aesthetics of film puppets is not a literal representation, but rather a search for a distinctive expression- a combination of realism and a subtle conventionality that allows the portrait to balance between reality and the world of imagination.
The painting was hand-painted with oil paints on canvas. This is an original work from 2019, part of my creative exploration of contemporary portraiture.
The painting is signed.
