USSR – Monument. V.I. Lenin., a glass sculpture from Russia, dating to 1970 in good condition and weighing 420 g.
Description from the seller
#. USSR – Monument. В.И.Ленин.
USSR – Monument. V.I. Lenin.
An authentic item from the Soviet Union.
Made of glass, circa the 1970s.
Rare.
Original.
Weight: 420 grams.
Made in USSR.
Description:
**Design Features and Value**
**Upper Part (the “monument”):** Made of high-quality optical or crystal glass. This part focuses and refracts light, causing the figure to literally “shine” from within when properly illuminated.
**Lower Part (the base):** Made of matte ruby-colored glass. This deep, dark shade was achieved by adding gold or selenium compounds to the glass mixture during production (this type of glass is known as “selenium-ruby glass”). The velvet-like texture was created through chemical treatments.
**Rarity:** Unlike completely transparent, mass-produced souvenirs, this model was hand-assembled from two separate pieces. It was produced in limited editions to commemorate important party anniversaries (e.g., the 100th anniversary of Lenin’s birth in 1970). These pieces were crafted at the LZHS or the highest-quality art workshops in Guss-Khrustalny.Current market value: Due to the combination of two types of glass, the contrast between the matte and glossy surfaces, and its excellent visual condition, this item has high collectible value.
No damage: If there are no cracks at the joints between the two pieces of glass or at the corners, the price of such an item at auctions ranges from 8,000 to 15,000 rubles ($85–$160).
* Good condition.
