Set of two antique brass items from Germany, dated 1910–1920, comprising a decorative lucifer holder on a foot and a brass presenta bowl, both by Max Hartmann and Paul Koch and featuring floral motifs and period detailing; lucifer holder Ø≈13.4 cm, height ≈10.5 cm, bowl Ø≈10.3 cm, height ≈7.5 cm, with the lucifer box not included.

Set consisting of an antique, richly decorated brass matchbox holder on a foot (or pyrogène), made by Max Hartmann, and an antique brass presentation dish (or vide-poche) with a central heart-shaped handle, made by Paul Koch.
Characteristic of both objects are the floral motifs and ornaments and strong stylistic features of metalwork from the late 19th or early 20th century. The match holder bears relief patterns of floral motifs, dragons and torches and is marked on the underside with the maker’s name Max Hartmann and the number 13622. The smaller dish features a relief of floral motifs and ornaments, combined with a strikingly formed handle finished with stylized animal and organic elements on either side. The dish is also marked on the bottom with the maker’s name Paul Koch and the number 13594.
