Description of the work
The Boxer belongs to Claudio Cassaniti's painterly research, characterized by a visionary and symbolic figurative language. The figure of the boxer does not represent competitive sport, but becomes a metaphor for the human condition, psychological resilience, and the ongoing confrontation with one's own fears and fragilities.
The character, with expressive and deliberately distorted features, assumes a defensive pose that communicates vulnerability and inner tension. The red gloves, a dominant element of the composition, call to mind conflict and struggle, while the snakes winding around the body evoke primordial instincts, temptation, transformation, and rebirth. The whole builds a narrative suspended between reality and a dreamlike dimension, in which each element takes on a strong symbolic value.
