Splendid crystal sculpture representing a sparrow, in a typically Art Deco style, signed “Lalique France” on the base, attesting to its authenticity and production by the prestigious Lalique house, founded by René Lalique, master glassmaker, silversmith and great innovator of design in the early 20th century.

This model is identified in the René Lalique oeuvre catalog raisonné under reference no. 1149, known under the appellation “Baguier Sparrow” (historically often presented as a paperweight or ring holder), created around 1929–1930 and reproduced in Félix Marcilhac’s reference work on Lalique crystal.

The satinized and polished crystal is enhanced by a delicate sculpture of the little bird, with clean lines and a peaceful posture. Each feather, each transition of material testifies to the technical mastery and artistic sensibility characteristic of Lalique, who knew how to transform crystal into visual poetry.
