With Raging Duck, CEHERE explores the mechanisms of visual détournement and collective memory through a work where pop culture, urban art, and cinematic references meet. Executed in mixed media on stretched cardboard, the composition combines acrylic painting, acrylic ink, markers, and collage in a play of superimpositions where geometric patterns, textures, and transparencies build a dense and dynamic visual space.

In the foreground, an iconic cartoon figure is reinterpreted with heightened expressivity. Its tense gaze and almost aggressive stance contrast with the graphical richness of the background, creating a tension between humor, irony, and confrontation. The vertical inscription “YOU DUCK MY WIFE?” acts as a narrative trigger. By simply replacing one word, it transforms a cult line from cinema history into an absurd and offbeat formula, where humor meets cultural reference.

The title Raging Duck extends this game of quotes by subtly evoking the universe of the film Raging Bull, while granting the character a new identity that is at once iconic, ironic, and contemporary. The work thus questions how popular images travel through time, transform, and reinvent themselves when brought into contact with new visual contexts.

Between appropriation, détournement, and plastic experimentation, Raging Duck sits within a démarche where contemporary visual culture becomes material for reflection as much as emotion.
