AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Grand porcelain plate in blue and white with a peony motif – China, Kangxi period (1662-1722)

In the center, within a double border, a blooming peony rising from a stylized stem with ruyi curls, framed by lanceolate leaves and floating ribbons. The rim is adorned with a continuous scroll of peonies and foliage on a white ground, bordered by a frieze of stepped lambrequins with hatched fill. Contoured edge with lightly raised decoration.

The reverse presents three spaced flowering twigs on the rim, radiating molded ribs, and at the center a double blue border surrounding a symbolic fangsheng mark (diamond knot of ribbons, one of the Eight Treasures), a common mark of the Kangxi period.

Overall good condition given its age. Two areas of ancient restoration on the rim, with cracks traversing and a small loss filled and repainted, visible in the detail photos (photos 6 and 7). Decor and glaze otherwise well preserved, with no notable wear.
