Jan Toorop (1858-1928) - Panis Angelicus

A unique work by this highly esteemed master.
Historically an important piece with text on the front and back.
On the front, written by himself to J. Raedt v. Oldenbarnevelt (descendant of Johan van Oldenbarnevelt).
On the back, a motto in Old German by Johannes Fastenrath, an important writer from the 19th century.
The drawing measures 18x11 cm.
The text on the reverse is written in ink.
Framed behind museum glass in a hand-stitched frame by Paul Gehring.
The piece has some spots and minor damage, but is of very high historical value.
The title is Panis Angelicus and it was made in his most sought-after period at the end of the 19th century.
