• Description of the work
Created in 2022, Gold Collision belongs to the initial phase of the study that will lead Diego Carchesio to the birth of the artistic research DIETRO LA TELA. Although it predates the gesture of painting on the back of the canvas, the work foreshadows its fundamental principles: the investigation of light, matter and perception.
The composition develops through fragments of gold leaf that emerge from a dark blue-green phthalocyanine background, creating a visual tension between depth and luminosity. At first glance the surface appears almost black, but it is precisely natural light that reveals its true nature: the color gradually changes, allowing the intense tones of blue and phthalo green to emerge, continually transforming the perception of the work.
The title Gold Collision recalls the encounter between matter and light, where gold does not assume a decorative function, but becomes the focal point of a visual dialogue in constant evolution. This continuous perceptual variation makes every viewing unique, making light an active element and an integral part of the work itself.
