This work comes most fully into its own in a quiet place, where you can step back a bit but also come close. The paint is applied thinly and transparently in some areas, while especially the landscape and the green forms around the boy are painted thicker and looser. In cool daylight the turquoise and blue-green tones become stronger; in warmer evening light the skin and the red in the hair come forward more.
