Description from the seller

Digital print, 18 x 13 cm on 29.8 x 21 cm. Signed in the image and on the back. Numbered. From an edition of 20.

Condition: Good condition. Photos are part of the condition description.

Angelika Platen (born 1942) counts among the most important German women photographers in the field of artists’ portrait photography. Since the late 1960s, she has documented with precision and sensitivity the faces and personalities of the international art scene – from emerging talents to world-renowned icons.

Her photographs show artists not only as public figures but also as people in focused, often intimate moments. Among her most famous portraits are photographs of Joseph Beuys, Sigmar Polke, Marina Abramović, Georg Baselitz, Neo Rauch, Ai Weiwei, Wolfgang Tillmans and many others.

Platen primarily works in black and white and relies on natural lighting as well as authentic settings – often in the studio, while at work, or in personal situations. Her work has been exhibited in numerous museums and institutions, including the Martin-Gropius-Bau Berlin, the Hamburger Kunsthalle, and the ZKM Karlsruhe.
