Frank Auerbach (1931–2024) is one of the most important representatives of British postwar painting and is internationally known for his expressive portraits as well as striking London cityscapes. His works are characterized by a heavy impasto, exceptional depth, and emotional intensity, and today they are represented in the world's leading museums and major art collections.

Biographie
Peter Brüchmann (1932–2016) was one of the most prominent German photographers of the postwar era, whose visual language helped shape pop and media culture from the 1950s to the 1980s. Born in Berlin, he completed an apprenticeship from 1949 to 1952 with fashion and portrait photographer Lotte Söhring and then did a traineeship at the news agency dpa. His career led him to renowned magazines such as Bild am Sonntag, twen, Revue and Quick – initially in black-and-white, later in color. Brüchmann was known for precise portraits of stage, film and music stars and placed great emphasis on intimacy and expression – for example in reports such as the visit of The Beatles to the Top-Ten-Club Hamburg in 1961. His works are today part of the collection of the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin.
