Description from the seller

MATEO GRIS (1919) - Sailing Through - Mixed media on canvas
Mixed media, Acrylic painting · Digital painting · Hand-signed · 2026

Nude, the head tilted onto the shoulder and the eyelids lowered, a woman surrenders to rest in an architecture of planes. The body, cubed into facets of honey, olive and pink ochre, follows a long curve that responds to the blocks of brick red, turquoise and green in the background. The long black hair cuts, sharp, against the molded skin. Nothing is anecdotal: neither decor nor narrative, only form, color and sleep. Geometric voluptuousness, gentle melancholy — the tender, transfigured Cubist heritage.

Mixed technique: acrylic painting on pigment-ink print, varnished.
Support: premium canvas stretched on a wooden frame, ready to hang.
Format: 40 × 40 cm.
Signed MATEO GRIS · Galerie Labo Joconde / Atelier Joconde · certificate of authenticity provided.

MATEO GRIS is one of the creations bringing together the artists Le Yack, Neo Pablo and Popsan within Atelier Joconde, a family studio where three sensibilities coexist: neo-realism, pop and free figuration. Under the name MATEO GRIS, the Atelier revisits synthetic cubism and the heritage of Juan Gris and Picasso of the 1920s: female figures constructed in geometric planes and juxtaposed color facets, sculptural modeling, warm earth tones enhanced with cool accents, meditative serenity and the voluptuous repose.

Each work is a unique piece.

Seller's Story
