Icon of Saint Anthony the Great, known in the West as Saint Anthony the Abbot, is considered the father of Christian monasticism and one of the most venerated figures of the Eastern tradition.
Painted in egg tempera on a rustic wooden panel with a gold background, later affixed to a second wooden panel.
Greek provenance, from the second half of the twentieth century.
Made according to the Byzantine iconographic tradition, it strikes with the intensity of the Saint's gaze and the painting quality.
Excellent conservation condition. Overall dimensions about 29x18 cm.
