Description from the seller

Extraordinary Bronze Bust of Seneca in Neoclassical Style – 19th Century
Description
Elegant bust depicting Lucius Annaeus Seneca, Roman philosopher and writer, presumably made at the end of the 19th century according to the neoclassical taste of the era.
The sculpture presents an intense expressive rendering of the face, with a thoughtful gaze, furrowed brow, finely worked beard and hair. Particularly accurate is the engraving of the strands of hair and beard, which gives depth and character to the portrait.
The bust rests on a coordinated turned base and is characterized by a dark surface with original antique patina, slight oxidations, signs of use and small irregularities consistent with the object's age. The patina has not been removed and contributes to the object's historical charm and authenticity.
Decorative piece of great presence, suitable for a neoclassical sculpture collection, a study, a library or a room furnished with antique furniture.
Conditions
General good condition, compatible with the period. Normal signs of time, surface deposits, small abrasions and patina variations are present. Please examine the photographs carefully, which are part of the description.
Era
Late 19th Century.
Subject
Lucius Annaeus Seneca.
Style
Neoclassical / Grand Tour.
Note
The attribution of the subject and the dating are formulated on the basis of the stylistic and iconographic characteristics of the work.
