Description:

Magnificent large-format decorative plate produced by the prestigious Italian manufacturer L'Antica di Deruta, internationally recognized for keeping alive the ceramic tradition of the city of Deruta, one of the main historic centers of Italian maiolica.

The piece features in its elevated central medallion an exquisite allegorical composition of "Justice", represented by a female figure bearing a sword and scales, universal symbols of equity and order. The whole is surrounded by rich grotesque decoration (grottesche) in the border, inspired by the famous Renaissance ornamental motifs disseminated by Raphael Sanzio and his workshop, characterized by fantastic creatures, winged chimeras, vegetal scrolls and mythological elements.

Completely handmade on a terracotta base with tin glaze, the plate stands out for its refined color palette in shades of golden yellow, cobalt blue, green and black on a white background, as well as the quality of its glossy finish and the delicacy of its strokes. The inscription on the reverse identifies the work as an artisanal reproduction inspired by models from the 1600 period.

This is a piece with great decorative presence, ideal for collectors of Italian maiolica, Renaissance art and objects of classical inspiration. Its 40 cm diameter makes it an excellent element for wall display or table display.
