Pérez Barquero, Solera Fundacional 1905 Oloroso, 0.75 L bottle, 1 bottle, Montilla-Moriles, Spain.
Description from the seller
Style: Oloroso
The 1905 Oloroso Solera Fundacional is one of the most prestigious and limited wines from Bodegas Pérez Barquero, a historic producer of Montilla-Moriles founded in 1905.
The designation “1905” refers to the founding year of the winery and the historic solera established at that time, rather than to a vintage year. The wine is drawn from this exceptionally old criaderas y soleras
system, with the wines having been matured for many decades in old oak casks.
Made from 100% Pedro Ximénez from the superior-quality areas of Sierra de Montilla and Moriles Altos, this is a dry Oloroso of extraordinary concentration and depth. Long oxidative ageing has created a dark mahogany wine with aromas of noble oak, vanilla, cinnamon, roasted hazelnuts, incense and balsamic spice.
On the palate it is remarkably velvety and dry, with immense concentration, yet without heaviness. The finish is exceptionally long, fragrant and elegant. Despite its age and concentration, the wine remains beautifully balanced.
The 1905 Oloroso has received 97 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, with the critic highlighting its noble woods, roasted hazelnuts, incense and balsamic complexity. It has also received 20/20 from
The World of Fine Wine.
Alcohol: 21.7–22% vol.
Fill level: Neck
Label condition: Excellent
Capsule condition: Excellent
Bottle size: 750 ml

History of the wine / winery:
Bodegas Pérez Barquero was founded in 1905 in Montilla, Córdoba. The 1905 Solera Fundacional collection comes directly from the historic soleras associated with the foundation of the winery. Together with the famous 1905 Amontillado and 1905 Pedro Ximénez, the Oloroso represents the extraordinary ageing potential of Pedro Ximénez in the Montilla-Moriles region.

Ready to drink and best appreciated now. A remarkable meditation wine for serious collectors, but equally compelling with gastronomy. Serve at 15–18°C in a wine glass. Decanting is recommended. Particularly suited to hare à la royale, wild boar, oxtail and other deeply flavoured meat dishes.
Shipping method:
Carefully packed in a protective wine shipping box. Insured shipping recommended.
