Itera bicycle from 1982, a single‑speed bike with rim brakes, an Anders frame, and a weight of 20 kg, located in the Netherlands and in used condition, featuring original fiberglass‑reinforced plastic construction and an integrated luggage rack.
Description from the seller
The Itera, without a doubt, belongs to the boldest bicycle designs of the eighties. While virtually all bikes at the time were made of steel, the Swedish manufacturer Itera chose a revolutionary approach: a frame and wheels largely made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic. The result was a futuristic design that was ahead of its time.
Although production lasted only a few years, the Itera grew into a design icon. Today the bicycle is included in various design and museum collections and is valued by collectors of industrial design, Scandinavian design, and unusual bicycles.
This example is finished in the characteristic light-blue color and features the original fiberglass-reinforced plastic spoke wheels, integrated luggage rack and the distinctive geometric frame construction. The bike looks strikingly modern, even more than forty years after its introduction.
The bicycle is in good vintage condition with normal signs of use appropriate to its age. The original styling and its complete character make this a special collectible that works excellently as both a functional bike and a decorative design object.
A rare opportunity to acquire an iconic piece of Scandinavian industrial design from the early eighties.
